The arrest of Ahwazi cultural activists, including a photographer in Ahwaz capital With an estimation of 11 security vehicles, two of which were plain clothes and the rest belonged to the police, raided the village of “Ghazavieh”, arrested five Ahwazi activists from the village, and transferred them to the “Kut Abdullah” Intelligence Office, on Thursday, the 10th of February 2022. Local sources quoted to Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights that the security forces raided homes and confiscated detainees’ mobile phones, causing a state of horror among women and children. According to human rights activists from Ahwaz capital stated that after the attack on the village, the families of the detainees went to the intelligence centre in Kut Abdullah and asked for the reasons for their sons’ arrest and the attack by the security forces, who were told that their sons had been arrested for propaganda against the regime. These sources added; the detainees were transferred to another location on Friday 11th of February 2022. The names of the detainees are as follows: 2- Mr. Mohammad Nawaser, born in 1988, son of Faleh, single and resident of “Ghazavieh Bozorg” village. Mohammad, a cultural activist, photographer and veteran, has been arrested twice for cultural activities. This Ahwazi photographer was arrested on the 27th of January 2020 by the Revolutionary Court. 2- Jalal Nawaser, born in 1983, son of Ma’ala, single, resident of “Ghazavieh Bozorg” village. 3- Hossein Nawaser, 24 years old, son of Ali, married and residents of “Ghazavieh Bozorg” village.4- Ali Nawaser, 26 years old, son of Abdul Wahed, single from “Ghazavieh Bozorg” village.5- Alireza (Ahmad) Nawaser, 19 years old, son of Faisal, single from “Ghazavieh Bozorg” village.
Ghazavieh” is one of the villages on the outskirts of Ahwaz capital. The village is located 10 km from Ahwaz capital and east of the Karun River and in recent years has been part of the city of “Kut Abdullah” in administrative divisions.
